leadership development for founder-led and family-run businesses under pressure
Protecting performance, reducing key-person risk, and ensuring continuity in businesses THAT WERE NOT BUILT ON TEXTBOOK LEADERSHIP models.
CLARITY • Capacity • Continuity

Ashleigh Hayden, PCC
Leadership & BEHAVIOURAL COACH
My clients are intelligent, resilient and successful professionals. They are often the person others rely on to make the final decision when things are unclear, complex or consequential.
They operate businesses in environments where conditions change often and quickly, information is incomplete or inconsistent and their decisions have far reaching impact. Over time, sustained pressure can undermine their ability to be strategic and forward-focused in their thinking. Accumulating responsibility can feel impossible to share, postponing difficult conversations can become the norm and performance tends to rely on individual effort rather than shared capacity.
Founder-led and family-run organisations rarely follow textbook organisational models. The dining room table and the boardroom are often the same place. Expectations and loyalty can complicate accountability. Formal structures are frequently replaced by trust, intuition and long-standing relationships. In these businesses, it is normal for one person to become the key person.
My work helps these leaders reshape how decisions are made, how responsibility is organised, ensuring critical conversations are addressed clearly, even under pressure. Rather than focus on personality or performance, we work with leadership-led behaviours that facilitate the systems within the business. The result is a business that can perform consistently, adapt with ease, and drive innovation without relying on sustained endurance and direction from a single individual.
Coaching is now widely used in complex, high-responsibility environments to strengthen leadership capacity. My mission is to extend this to founder-led and family-run organisations, where key person risk has the greatest impact on continuity and performance.

“I didn’t realise how much pressure I had normalised until I began working with Ashleigh. As the owner of a small business with a team of three, I did not recognise myself as a leader and I was avoiding difficult conversations with my team and clients. Our work together has allowed me to redefine my role as a leader, helped me trust myself again and completely changed the way I show up at work and prioritise myself.“
SMALL BUSINESS OWNER
work with me
Hexagon Gold Professional Coaching works with founder-led and family-run businesses where pressure, complexity, and responsibility have gradually concentrated around a key person in ways that limit capacity and increase risk. Leaders who work with me move out of constant urgency, into steadier, more deliberate decision-making. Responsibility stops defaulting to them, delegation becomes an intentional investment and performance is less about endurance. The result is a business that can accelerate growth, adapt with ease and absorb pressure without relying on just one person.

I work with a small number of leaders on a one-to-one or small-team basis to ensure depth, discretion, and real impact. This work is deliberately contained – not scaled – because the patterns that shape a leader under pressure are cultural, contextual, and often invisible in group or generic settings. My primary service is a private, in-person Reset Day. These days are focused working sessions designed to create the space to step out of urgency, examine how decisions and responsibility are currently operating, particularly under pressure, and reset the patterns that the business depends on. They are designed for leaders who recognise that their current way of operating has reached its limit – emotionally, relationally or operationally.
